Good day church family,
Thank you again for all your prayers and support for us and this mission. We arrived on schedule safely in Honduras!
Things went very smooth for us in Halifax we arrived early and got to our gate in lots of time. We had plenty of time in Toronto as well and that was a good thing as Sandra and Madison were extremely honest and claimed they were carrying fruit and nuts into the States so they were put into an extremely slow line. Sandra had an Apple in her bag which she actually ate while waiting in the line to claim it! Curtis ate his apple while comfortably seated waiting on the other side! Madison had some nuts in her bag and while she was claiming hers the rest of us were sharing trailmix and eating our granola bars while Vicky texted and taunted Madison as she stood waiting in line. It's fun to laugh!
When we arrived in Houston 7 out of our 9 totes were smashed. We went to our hotel and checked in at 12:15 am. We decided we had to go to a Wal-Mart 10 miles away that was open 24 hours and purchase some new totes because things were hanging out of the broken ones. Barbra the lady on the front desk was a God send for us! She made the airport shuttle driver drive us to Wal-Mart and wait and bring us back! He was not happy! We tipped him $10 bucks and thanked him very much!
Sandra, Nick and I volunteered for the job of getting the totes and repacking so we got 2 hours sleep!
Our drivers Betuel and Mcgill along with Nancy our translator picked us up at the airport and everyone enjoyed the beautiful 2 hour drive to Siguetepeque. We stopped and got ice cream drinks and snacks for lunch. We also stopped at a roadside fruit stand on the way and bought mangos, pineapple, guava, bananas and coconut.
They had cold coconuts they cut open for the cold coconut water and that was a big hit for Jalen, keagan, Madison,Sandra and our translator Nancy had two!
We got to Cerro de Luz unpacked the vans had supper and went to check in to our hotel rooms downtown we would stay in for the first night as Cerro was double booked our first night.
Then we were off to church from 6:30 till 8:00! The people were so welcoming to our team and showered us in prayers and gratitude! Nick and Jalen led worship for two songs it was amazing!
I presented the church our gift of the money we raised at last years cake auction and I think I got a hug and thank you from every church member afterwards! Pastor Medina said to tell you guys with tears gracias, gracias, gracias, gracias, gracias!!!
God has been so good to us!!
This morning we go to Vida y libertad! Can't wait to see everyone again and introduce our team!
Thank you all again!
God Bless, Shawn
