Dear Pastors, Missionaries, Chaplains and Friends,
Steve Jones here… The Apostle Paul said…Romans 15: 24, 28 (NIV): “ I plan to do so when I go to Spain. I hope to visit you while passing through and to have you assist me on my journey there, after I have enjoyed your company for a while…So after I have completed this task and have made sure that they have received this fruit, I will go to Spain and visit you”.
In the history of our mission endeavors, among our Fellowship churches, we have sent Fellowship brethren to Spain to preach the gospel. Our own mission, Fellowship International, has sent out the Cirias, Francis, Roberts, among others in the past years. Despite all our efforts, the evangelical church in Spain still remains small (1% or 45 million population: Operation World stat).
Introducing Ken and Cathy Yinger
I am pleased to introduce to you new Fellowship International appointees, Ken and Cathy Yinger. They are active members of Knollwood Baptist Church in London, ON. They also spent 17 years as missionaries, church planting in Chile. They speak Spanish fluently and are quite familiar with the culture despite obvious differences between Chile and Spain. After four years back home they sense a very strong call from the Lord to plant churches in Spain. Particularly, in the spiritually tougher areas that have been particularly difficult to penetrate with the gospel. This is Fellowship International’smandate and vision, and so, a perfect partnership was made.
In a second exploratory trip to Spain, with Fellowship International Director, Dan Baetz, in July, the Yingers have identified the region we believe the Lord would have them based from. They made contact several months ago with a British missionary in the area who has been praying daily for 15 years for a church planter for this area. The exploratory trip confirmed Fellowship International’s involvement, and so, these “seasoned/experienced” missionaries are looking for prayer and financial partners to help get them on the field.
Ken mentioned he was looking for “Lydias, Appollos and Philippian jailers in Spain”. They were praying for spiritual seekers who wanted to know more (like Lydia), or some who have some knowledge of Christ (like Appollos) as do the many nominal Catholics in Spain who desire more, and also those who in crisis may turn to the Lord as an entire family (like the Philippian jailer’s family).
Please pray for the Yingers. I have attached a brief video clip above (2 minutes) to introduce you to Ken and Cathy.
Please prayerfully consider financially supporting the Yingers this year. Consider partnering with them through your church’s mission budget. I imagine many of you will be discussing your 2013 budget this Fall or Winter. Please ask the Lord if He might be calling you or your church about reaching Spain for Christ. Why not consider inviting the Yingers to your church?
Are you registered for Fellowship 48, our National Convention?
Our National Convention is November 5-7, 2012 in beautiful Niagara Falls at the Sheraton on the Falls hotel. Rooms are only $89, but they are limited. Register soon.
My prayer is couples will come to Fellowship 48 this year as we hear from a ministry couple in a seminar format. Peter and Geri Scazzero will be sharing about improving our spiritual and emotional health as believers and ministry couples. And our Convention ends with a banquet with Christian humorist, Phil Callaway…it’s good to laugh, good for the soul.
Register on-line, mail or phone today.
Have a blessed week.
Our Fellowship Theme Verse for 2012:
“So I pray that God, who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13 (NLT)
