This past September, FAIR released the Fall and Christmas appeal – Hungry Stomachs (Haiti). Over the next few months, we were blessed to see Fellowship churches and individuals respond with open hearts. To date, we have received $100,600 – over twice the amount of the original goal. Significant portions of this total came from our Fellowship National Conference offering ($8,650) and the overwhelming response from Calvary Baptist Church, Oshawa, ON ($48,200), with the remainder coming from the generosity of churches and individuals across Canada ($43,750).
With the effects of Hurricane Matthew being felt across the country, and not only in the areas dramatically impacted by its October 4th landfall, the sustainability of the feeding program becomes even more important. As the Salem Christian Academy continues to work to establish the kitchen garden and security wall, we pray that the love of Christ will be felt by the students and staff, as well as the surrounding region. We look forward to what God will do with these funds in Haiti, but we trust and pray that His plan is better than we can imagine.
