FAIR is committed to a full financial response to the crisis unfolding in the Philippines.
Funds will be distributed to assist with the most pressing needs identified by our partners on the ground. This potentially will include everything from the most immediate relief needs to the rebuilding of homes and churches. Our priorities will be determined as further details become available. As of now, information is just beginning to flow, helping us to gain a greater understanding of how best we can be involved beyond the obvious provision of food, water, and temporary shelter.
FAIR has chosen two Canadian partners to facilitate and assist our Fellowship family of churches in participating in the relief efforts in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan in the islands of the Philippines. We will monitor and work with each of them to ensure that our Fellowship response is effective and of high impact in this tremendous crisis.
FAIR has selected Across Borders for World Evangelism (ABWE Canada) our fellow Baptist mission agency who’s ministry roots in the Philippines date back to 1927 and because of their long and well-established history in local church ministry precisely in the center of ground zero, Tacloban City, where typhoon Haiyan has left at least 4.5 million affected by its path of devastation and destruction. It is expected that the number of homeless will surpass 600,000 and the estimated death toll is in the thousands.
FAIR has also chosen to partner with Emmanuel International (EI) with whom we have worked so closely over the past three years in the aftermath and rebuilding since the earthquake in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. As our partner, EI Canada brings to this FAIR endeavor a long-established humanitarian and social ministry and expertise in the Philippines.
We are immediately releasing $5,000 Cdn. to each of these partners as we await your generous response to this urgent need.
Financial donations designated, “FAIR Philippines Typhoon” can be forwarded to FAIR, Box 457, Guelph ON, NIH 6K9, or they can be given via our secure online website: www.fellowship.ca/donate
Will you prayerfully consider how the Lord would have you respond to the devastation the Philippines?
