A Word From Steve Jones
November 12th, 2018
Dear Pastors, Missionaries, Chaplains and friends,
Steve here…Last week we were in Richmond, BC enjoying our Fellowship National Conference. Our theme this year was“Going the Distance: Reaching our Neighbours, Neighbourhoods, and the Nations”; we were talking about mission. We celebrated both our 60th Anniversary as a Fellowship of churches (1953-2013) and the 50th Anniversary of our Fellowship International global ministry (1963-2013) during the Conference. Many within our Fellowship family have prayed for our mission these past 50 years and we are indebted your prayer support. Thank you.
November 3rd was our “Fellowship Day of Prayer”. I’ve heard from many pastors whose churches took time out of their service to pray for our Fellowship churches, pastors, and mission personnel in Quebec and overseas, chaplains, and regional/national staff members. Here are a few testimonials from East to West:
“Last Wednesday at our prayer meeting, we had a special time set aside for prayer for the Fellowship. On Saturdaymorning, at our monthly men’s prayer meeting we prayed for the Fellowship once again. And yesterday (Sunday), three different people at each of our three services prayed first for our Fellowship churches across Canada, our pastors and leaders, and our outreach efforts, second for the situation at Murree Christian School in Pakistan, and third for our own two big projects for 2014—a new building and the formation of a pastoral team to lead the church in the coming years.”
— Pastor Robert Charpentier (Montréal-Nord Church, QC)
“End of an amazing week of prayer at Compass. Prayed earnestly for our hearts, church, community, the lost, the persecuted, and the Fellowship National.”
—Julianne August, Women’s Director (Compass Church, Orangeville, ON)
“It was our privilege to be with Pastor Dave and Wendy Berg and their congregation at Benalto, AB. Dave allocated a full 15 minutes of the service and had people pray, following your website material. It was a great Sunday.”
—Laurie Kennedy, Fellowship Prairies Regional Director
“Thank you Steve for your leadership in calling the Fellowship to prayer. We turned our evening service over to the theme of “Partnership” from Philippians 1:3-11, showed the short video clip on the Fellowship website of your call to prayer and split those who attended into two groups, and prayed for our Fellowship churches. We also gave out the PDFs provided on the website. We were glad to participate.”
—Pastor John Goulet-Jones (Aldergrove Fellowship Baptist, Abbotsford, BC)
Thank you for participation in our first “Fellowship Day of Prayer”. A special thank you to the many who prayed for the security concerns at Murree Christian School, our missionary children’s school in Pakistan. A real and credible security threat has been made by the Taliban against the school. Many will remember the attack on MCS in 2002, when six security guards/national staff were killed while protecting the children. Please continue to pray for this significant need. I will be visiting MCS in March, trusting the security threat will be long over before then. Thank you for your prayer commitment for our churches, pastors, church leaders, missions personnel and regional/national staff. May the Lord answer our prayers.
Have a blessed week,
P.S. Please prayerfully consider giving to our FAIR Christmas project. CLICK HERE for more details. Maybe your church family might consider hosting a special offering for the FAIR Christmas project?
Our 2014 Fellowship theme verse is:
“Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35 (NLT)
